SendGrid - Email Sending & Receiving Setup
We've introduced a feature that lets you sync emails both ways and reply to incoming messages using our SendGrid integration.
This feature provides a comprehensive email marketing solution within any of your chatbots.
First, we need to integrate with SendGrid.
Connecting to SendGrid
To connect to SendGrid, navigate to the integration section in your Flexito OmniAI dashboard, go to Email Marketing, and select SendGrid.
You'll need four pieces of information:
API Key
Sender Name
Sender Email
Receiving Domain
Let's explore the steps required in SendGrid:
Obtaining the API Key
First, retrieve the API key by navigating to Settings, then API Keys. Click “Create API Key.”
On the next screen, name your API key, grant full access, and click “Create & View.”
Remember to copy and save the API key securely, as this is the only time it will be visible.
Once complete, proceed to the next section to authenticate a domain.
Authenticating the Sender
In the left menu where you found API keys, scroll down to Sender Authentication and click it.
Here, you'll see an overview of your domains. If this is your first time, the overview will be empty.
Domain Authentication
Click the button labeled “Authenticate Your Domain.”
You'll see an overview with two options to choose from.
Select your DNS provider. Use the dropdown to find your provider. If it's not listed, select “other host (not listed).”
Enable branded links if you want them in your emails. This adds an extra CNAME record in the next overview.
After choosing both options, click “Next.”
Enter your preferred domain. An example will appear on the right.
Once done, explore the advanced settings below your domain. The standard automated security is sufficient.
Click “Next” to proceed.
You'll now see an overview of the CNAME records to add to your DNS.
Note that it may take up to 24 hours for the new records to propagate. This is not immediate.
After adding the records and waiting, check the box “I’ve added these records” and click “Verify” at the bottom right of the DNS overview page.
Once verification is successful, you'll see a confirmation screen.
Single Sender Verification Now that the domain is registered, verify an email for use.
Click the “Single Sender Verification” button.
A new screen will appear. Enter your details and click “Create.”
You'll then see an overview of your verified email.
Connecting to Flexito OmniAI With all the information ready, it's time to input it into the Flexito OmniAI integration.
Go to the specified section in your workspace and enter the data.
For the receiving domain, select one of the domains verified under the sender authentication tab, then click save.
This will generate a webhook URL for use in the next step.
Copy the webhook URL, then return to SendGrid -› Settings -> Inbound Parse -> Add Host & URL -> Receiving Domain. Click “Add host & URL.”
Here's the overview you'll see:
For the subdomain, use the beginning of the verified domain, a series of letters and numbers. Copy this from the sender authentication section.
Select your verified domain from the dropdown for the domain itself. Paste the webhook URL from Flexito OmniAI into the Destination URL section.
It's recommended to enable additional options. Once done, click “add.”
You'll see an overview of your verified domains.
Finally, return to Flexito OmniAI and click Save again for all changes to take effect.
You're now ready to use two-way email syncing in Flexito OmniAI!
Using Two-Way Email Syncing
Enter a chatbot and start a live chat with a user who has opted in for email. Compose and send an email.
As shown, the email has been sent to the user. Emails sent or received are highlighted in pink to distinguish them.
Check if the email has arrived in your inbox, then reply to it.
The email has been received in your inbox. Next, check if replies can be received in the Flexito OmniAI live chat inbox.
Great!
The reply is marked by the title "Re:"
To reply, hover over the top right corner of the email to reveal a dropdown arrow. Click it and select “reply.”
You can send an email by clicking “Email” between Reply and Note at the bottom or using the email icon on the right.
After sending your email, check the user inbox to see if you replied and started a thread.
In the user inbox, the reply will appear in the current thread with the user.
This is how you set up a two-way email syncing system in Flexito OmniAI using our SendGrid integration!
